Q: How long are the cockroach legs viable for?

The cockroach legs remain viable for several hours after they are removed from the body. This is also the subject of an experiment called [Oxygen and Spiking](https://backyardbrains.com/experiments/oxygen).

When the cockroach leg is removed, drying the leg out will help with spikes; also, wait a couple of minutes before adding the electrodes; this could help have large spikes!
